Grand Prairie is located in Grand Prairie, Texas, and it is a unique suburb that has developed its own identity over the decades. It is located on the western edge of the Texas Panhandle, north of Dallas - Fort Worth. The town is bordered by the Kirby and Cotonwood streams, both of which flow into Kirby Creek, a fish stream. SH 360 runs almost three miles through the northwestern part of the city, while SH 303 runs almost two miles in the southern part.

Grand Prairie is located in Ellis County, a small part of which extends south to Ellis County and north to Collin County. The Grand Prairies are located on the east side of Texas State Highway 303 in Arlington, with a smaller portion stretching south to Ellis County and west to Collierville, Texas.

The District's high school is the only public school district in Grand Prairie, Texas, and the second largest in Texas. All high schools and middle schools, however, are run by the Mansfield Independent School District, the state's largest and largest school system.

All primary and secondary schools will be transferred to the Mansfield Independent School District, the state's largest public school system. Arlington residents who are students at the school have access to the same educational opportunities as students at other schools in Grand Prairie. Students at Arlington High School and Sam Houston State University attend high school and middle school, as well as elementary and elementary school.

The Mansfield Independent School District includes Grand Prairie and Tarrant County and operates six elementary schools within the Grand Prairie city limits. It closed in 2005 but was reopened by the Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Committee in June 2006 and reopened in 2008 after a year of renovation.

Grand Prairie began to develop in the mid-19th century, when pilots from Fort Worth and Dallas were trained at the city's new airfields. After the Curtis Flying Service Corporation ceased operating a flight school, the Grand Prairie Municipal Airport served as the home of Lou Footes Flight School, the first of its kind in Texas when it was purchased by Loufoote Flight School.

Tourism became an important business, and turnstiles were the only toll road in Texas at the time, so good bridges were built to ease traffic between cities. In 1907, the Grand Prairie - Fort Worth Road (now Interstate 35) was paved and proved a popular route for motorists traveling between Dallas and Fort Worth.

The center of the city is conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth at the intersection of Interstate 35 and I-35, just a short drive from downtown. Unlike most communities in North Texas that have basic agricultural and rail roots, Grand Prairie also has a history in the aviation and entertainment industries and has grown in popularity over the years. In August 1940, the opening of the first National Guard base in Texas brought hundreds of visitors to Grand Prairie, bringing the world's first air base.
